two in one! go!

Have you ever stepped into Ion Orchard and thought "there's that smell again; I wonder if it's that makeup store over there causing it"?

It isn't.

Turns out Ion's entire experiential concept revolves around not only sight, sound, bright lights and shiny metal; they also incorporated a specially-designed scent to enhance the entire shopping experience.

A couple of links:
The press release from the scent guys
The Scent Blog post (scent blog? really?)

It does work, you realise; every time you smell something vaguely familiar, you think "oh! it smells like Ion Orchard!" and they've successfully implanted their name into your head via that.

And here is a link on the 10 Principles of UX (User Experience). It's not about the entire performative and participatory thing we had going on so far, but designed experiences are far more than that. :D
